Bentley the Labradoodle
He is one of my best friends while also being the biggest
pain in the butt. I picked up Bentley in February of 2018. I
had just gotten out of a long term relationship and was
heartbroken, so I did the only logical thing to do and got a
puppy. My mom, sister and sister’s boyfriend came with me
to pick him up. When we pulled up to the breeder’s home,
puppies ran out into the driveway. I was in puppy Heaven.
The whole litter was out running around and playing. I
immediately went for the puppy that was most outgoing. I
paid the breeder and left with my Labradoodle. Little did I
know about the amount of responsibility I was holding in my
hands.
I named my little Labradoodle Bentley. I spent my first couple
nights with him at my parents’ house and I never left him
home alone. When I brought him to school, it was a different
story. I had class every day and sometimes was gone for up to three
hours. Bentley was a very anxious puppy and did not like being left in
his cage. It was really hard for me to leave him, especially when I
could hear him barking from his cage from outside my apartment
building. It was almost like having a child (but clearly not exactly the
same). Potty training took a long time to conquer, I couldn’t go out or
go on random adventures with my friends as often and I spent a lot of
money on food and toys. It took a lot of time and energy to train a
puppy.
Bentley turns two this Sunday. Even though he is still considered a
puppy, he is full grown at 70 pounds and finally trained (for the most
part). He is one of the most playful and cuddly dogs I have ever met.
Even though the first few months of having him were a nightmare, I
am so glad I got him. He is one of my best friends and the best cuddle
buddy.
Alex,
ReplyDeleteI am a dog person. If you ever bring Bentley somewhere near me watch me pass out right there and then. But the thing with dogs is that they lick and I find it really hard to just get over it. I can't just go on with my day after being licked by a dog I have to first watch myself then I go on. That's just my OCD.
