ALDI: Fresh & Affordable
As a college student, I am always looking for places to save money. I have a car payment, rent, and
utilities to pay every month so I always try to cut costs on food. I do enjoy eating pretty healthy, but
that gets pricey sometimes. Last school year, I went back and forth between Walmart and Community
Market to buy my groceries. My biweekly grocery bill would range between $75 and $100. This
amount was pretty pricey for my budget.

This past summer when visiting home, my mom suggested I grab groceries at our local Aldi before I
headed back home. I took her advice & I was very impressed. My biweekly grocery bill fell to $45 to
$65. Aldi first opened its first store in Iowa in 1976. The German chain grew rapidly as support for
their cheap priced and quality food products increased. Today there are 1.600 stores throughout 35
states. The brand’s slogan introduces what brings shoppers in: Shop differentli. Their goal is to
provide the consumer with an easier, faster, and smarter way to shop and save money. The
company has won over 400 awards with this mentality.
Aldi’s products are insanely cheap because they carry privately owned brands, over 90% in
fact.Their product lines include organic, gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan friendly. Along with this,
Aldi is known for their premium and exclusive items. With the big move toward organic and healthy
eating, Aldi is finally getting the recognition it deserves.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteWe have an Aldi back home in Marion! Our family has found that their fruit is fresher than any other store! We use aldi for snacks for events and in our dorm room as well. Glad that you have found a resource that is both economical and healthy!
Thanks for sharing,
Alyson
We have an Aldi is my hometown. One of my favorite items from Aldi is Mama Caggios pizza. The fresh, oven-baked, ready in 16 minutes, is such an amazing deal. Last year, I worked in the mailroom at ONU with a friend who also worked at Aldi. He often talked about the company and how good it has been being there. I think its great you found a place to save money and still find healthy options.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to see that more people are giving Aldi the love it deserves! I've always been a fan of shopping there since we have multiple locations in my hometown, but once I realized there was one in Lima it was life changing. Their low costs while maintaining a healthy work environment for employees really makes me wonder how much other brands are marking up their products while Aldi can remain extremely affordable.
ReplyDeleteI love Aldi. I love how you can still make healthy choices at an affordable price. That is so hard to find anymore so the fact that there is a whole store dedicated to it is a big deal. It's also great for people like my mom. She was just recently diagnosed with Celiacs disease so she is on a gluten free diet and Aldi makes it easier for her to shop for food.
