Graphic Design in the World of Social Media
This summer I interned at a marketing firm called AR Marketing, where I learned how graphic design fits into the world of social media. Social media has been booming with interactive and visual graphics this past year. Businesses are more focused on how to interact with consumers through social media using graphic design. For example, businesses have a brand with a visual strategy within it. They use this visual strategy to create repetition with their content. This specific content will bring fast recognition to their brand and bring more traffic to their social media channels. This is all done through the basics of graphic design and marketing. Specifically at AR Marketing, I learned how to drive the local consumer to grocery stores around the Midwest. To do this, we paired photos of delicious looking food with fun, eye-catching graphics. This is what a majority of my internship consisted of. We ran over 75 grocery social media pages and posted on each one three to four times a week. We also carried over each visual strategy into their store signage and branding. This created the repetitive recognition that I spoke of earlier. This strategy is very important for the modern business. Consumers today are looking for a recognizable aesthetic that draws them in. In the past couple of years it has finally been utilized in major businesses such as Lively, Magnolia, Roolee and Billie.
This is so interesting that you got to experience the world of marketing and graphic design. This is something that always interested me so to hear about it first hand is pretty cool. I didn't realize how much went into something as simple as marketing a grocery store. It seems like you got a lot of insight that will help you tremendously in the future. I hope you blog more about this so I can learn more.
